Sifnos Kykladon

Sifnos will charm you with its Cycladic landscape, sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, traditions and friendly people. It is located in the southwestern Cyclades between Serifos, Milos and Paros. The houses of the island are small and simple while the blooming bougainvillea decorate the whitewashed streets.

Sifnos is an island that keeps all customs alive: Traditional festivals, pottery workshops and delicious local dishes such as Mastelo (lamb or goat in a clay pot with red wine and dill baked in a wood oven), chickpea soup cooked in a clay pot in an oven on branches, local mizythra (traditional cheese), almond sweets and sesame bars.

When you are in the ship approaching Kamares, you will have the opportunity to see one of the most beautiful harbors of the Cyclades. Apollonia is the capital of the island. Another important village is Artemonas. These two villages are almost united and together they constitute the center of the island. On the east side of the island, on a small peninsula, you can see the Castle, the old capital of the island. It is a medieval village protected by walls.

How to get there:

In summer the island is connected to Piraeus and to the islands of Milos, Kythnos, Serifos, Kimolos daily. It is also connected to Sikinos, Ios, Folegandros, Santorini two to three times a week. The journey from Piraeus takes about 5-6 hours by ship or 2-3 hours by speedboat. Sifnos is also connected to many islands of the Cyclades such as Paros, Naxos, Mykonos, Tinos, Andros, Syros etc. The itineraries vary according to the season.
